There is an old expression in which says that one has a mind of his or her own; Yes, we do have minds of our very own, but how do we use our minds? For good, for bad, or for worse? Well, let me explain something in full detail: When a person has a mind that is so very full of evil, then he or she would do something dastardly, such as commit crimes like murder, theft, or even worse, mainly because that person may be high on drugs and would want to steal something so that they could sell it to buy some more drugs, or perhaps they just do these things just so that they could be satisfied. And then there are other people who have minds that are good; They use their good minds to focus on what they are told to do, such as to do chores, volunteer, or to follow their bosses’ orders and get straight to work-Those are the people who have good minds.
However, let me ask you this-Suppose that you have the mind of Christ, as in, Jesus Christ? Well, those who have minds that are full of sin may shake their heads and say that they do not fully know who Jesus Christ is, but I, as a Christian, certainly do: He is the one who is sent by our Lord God to take our place for our sins in order to love us by dying on the cross for our sins and then was raised to life three days later so that we could have something so very wonderful: Eternal life. For those who do not know Christ, I would like to extend my personal invitation to come and open your heart to Jesus Christ today; I shall show you how in a few moments.
In the 8th chapter of Romans verses 1-11(NLT), the apostle Paul explains why we have and should have life in the Spirit: “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to Him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. He did this so that the just requirement of the law would be fully satisfied for us, who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.”
“Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to Him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”
All of us are living in the bondage of sin and being condemned for repeatedly breaking the holy law of God; Had it not been for Jesus Christ, who has paid the ultimate price for us, then we would not ever be free at all! Thank the Lord God that He has declared us not guilty while offering us the freedom from all our sins, both in the past and in the present! And yes, He gives us the power that we so desperately need to live out the Christian life.
But what about you? Are you free, or are you still enslaved by your sins? Are you still trapped by the fog of the sins of the addictions that you have been having, such as drugs, alcohol, pornography, and even gambling? Would you like to be free from that despicable bondage? Well, I have Good News for you-JESUS CAN! Yes, Jesus can get you out of your sinful nature because He has paid for them on the cross at Calvary: He allowed Himself to be beaten, whipped, forced to carry, and then Jesus Christ was nailed to, suffering, bleeding, and then dying on the cross so that all our sins, plus yours, could be paid in full. And then, three days later, our Lord God raised His only Son from the dead, defeating death as He went out of that cold, dark tomb, so that all of us could very well have life eternal. Yes, you can have that wonderful life in the Spirit, if you would only confess to the Lord God that you have sinned, and have fallen short of His glory, and then invite His Son to come into your heart, so that you could be cleansed of all your sins. All you have to do is just ask.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16-17, NLT)
And so, my dearest friends, are you ready to commit your life to Christ by inviting Him into your heart? Then I ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that You have died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that I could have eternal life. I ask now that You please come into my heart, and to let me follow You always as my personal Savior. I thank You so very much for making the ultimate sacrifice of Yourself to save me. In your most holy and blessed name. Amen.”
If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would like to wholeheartedly welcome YOU into God’s Great, Big Family! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your very own heart to Jesus Christ would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s Most Blessed Word, each and every day of your life, and then you should definitely go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday of your life, so that you can worship, praise, and thank our Heavenly Father for saving you by sending His Son to die for you. I very much hope and pray that you make the ultimate choice of following Jesus Christ today, for always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time to read this message today; Until next time, Lord willing, may the Lord God ever so richly bless you.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
