COME, FOLLOW JESUS: “The Whole Armor”

Ephesians 6:10-17

ARMOR SWIRL
“He put on righteousness as his body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on he head.” (Isaiah 59:17, NLT)(Background art by Jenn Webster)

My dearest friends, we are living in very icy, desperate times right now; The whole world seems to have spun out of control: People hating one another, immigrant children being pulled away from families, a drug epidemic has swept our land, among others. Every time we turn on the news, we have seemed to witness one nightmarish experience after another, and I honestly do not know for certain if things are going to get any worse before they get any better…
There happens to be a war-like atmosphere at the moment, and there are people who are looking for something that would help pull them through these dark times, as well as to help see through them. My friends, I have VERY good news for you: There IS something that would help you through those dark times, and that certain something just happens to be a certain Someone, and that certain someone happens to be the One who was sent by our Lord God to save all of us, the One who took our place on the cross as punishment for our sins, and the One who will always help you through the good and bad times in your life, for now and for always. That Someone is Jesus Christ, God’s only Son. With Jesus, He can help you through the tough, spiritual battles in your life, and He shall very well be with you in your life forever if you would only just give your very own heart to Him by admitting that you have sinned, and that you believe that Christ Jesus has died on the cross for you.
In the 6th chapter of Ephesians, verses 10-17(NLT), the apostle Paul explains how those whose hearts are in Jesus Christ should prepare for the battles against spiritual darkness: “…Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against the strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

As Christians, we need the strength of God as we put on every piece of His armor to withstand the attacks of Satan, who is of this world; But what about you, you who are reading this right now? Attacks from Satan lie in every corner of your life, and once Satan battles for your soul, would you be ready to fight back with the right armor? My friend, the right armor, the ONLY right armor that you should need right now is the armor of our Lord God, and that whole body of yours needs to be armed, armed with the armor of God, to be able to fight in the strength of the church, and the power of the strength of the church comes from the Holy Spirit. The spiritual armor comes from the salvation that has been won for you by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who was sent by our Heavenly Father to save us by allowing Himself to be whipped, beaten, forced to carry, and then had been nailed to, suffering, bleeding, and then dying on the cross at a place called Calvary…
Then, three days later, Christ Jesus was raised from the dead by God, defeating death as He went out of that cold, dark tomb, so that each of us could very well have eternal life. Folks, if you do not know who Jesus Christ really is and would like to know a whole lot more about Him so that you could put on that spiritual armor to fight the despicable attacks of the devil, Satan, then let me offer you my invitation to you to get to know Jesus Christ by admitting that you have sinned, and by inviting Him into your heart.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood…He makes sinners right in His sight when they believe in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26b, NLT)

And so, are you ready to fight the evil temptations to sin that’s being brought on by the devil by putting on all of God’s armor by giving your heart to Jesus Christ right now? Then I ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, and that You have raised Him from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that I could have life eternal. I ask now that You please allow Your Son to come into my heart, and to let me follow Him always as my personal Savior. Thank You so very much for sending Your Son to pay as a ransom for me His very life. In His most Holy & blessed name. Amen.”
If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would like to welcome you into the Family of God! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your very own heart to Jesus would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s most blessed Word, each and every day, and I would very much like to have you go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday, so that you could praise, worship, and thank our Lord God for sending His Son to sacrifice Himself to save you. I very much hope as well as pray that you make the most ultimate decision of your life by turning your heart to Jesus today, for always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking time out today to read this blessed message. Until the very next time, Lord willing, may the Lord God bless you ever so richly.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
