Philippians 3:20-21, 2 Peter 3:13
Everyone has a liking to have nice, new things; A new house, new clothing, a new car, or maybe even new tools. People even make out a wish list of new things to get once they have the money; And then, once Christmas comes around, then both adults, as well as children, start making their own wish lists of things that they would like for Christmas-You know, as in NEW things.
But this week, my friends, I would very much like to introduce you to someone who provides new things, and I certainly do not mean MATERIAL new things; No, this someone is the One who provides newer things that are so very much better than any earthly material possessions-The One who is such a very kind giver is none other than God Himself, the true One, the One who has shown His unfailing love for each one of us by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to take our place and die a criminal’s death on the cross for our sins, in which His blood washes away all of our sins and gives us that most wonderful gift called salvation…
In the 3rd chapter of Philippians verses 3:20-21(NLT), the apostle Paul addresses that we, as Christians, should wait eagerly for the return of Christ Jesus: “…we are citizens of Heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control.”
Meanwhile, the apostle Peter has a similar expectation for our Lord in 2 Peter 3:13(NLT): “But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth He has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.”
Yes, God is the One Who makes every single thing new-New heavens and a new earth, a place where there is no evil, no hate, no wars, and no crime; Instead, it shall very well become a place where peace and love will prevail, and that death shall not ever have the final word! The Lord God will also give us new mercies… “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT)
Now, how about you? Do you really want something new in your life, after dealing with every old struggle in the past? Old struggles such as drugs, alcohol, gambling, and even pornography? Do you really want to break free of those old things in your life and be willing to have the best new thing in life, the new life of a most wonderfully blessed thing called salvation that has been won for you by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? You see, our Heavenly Father has sent Jesus to earth to be born from the womb of a virgin named Mary in a stable in Bethlehem, and to fulfill the will of His Father, Christ allowed Himself to be beaten, whipped, forced to carry, and then having been nailed to, suffering, bleeding, and then dying on the cross at a place called Calvary; And then, three days later, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by our Lord God, defeating death as He went out of that cold, darkened tomb, so that every one of us can very well have eternal life. My dearest friends, you can have this wonderful new life if you would only give your heart to Jesus Christ.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16-17, NLT)
And so, my dearest friends, are you ready to give up your old life, and to have a new life that is filled with the gift of salvation that has been won for you by the precious blood of Jesus Christ? Then please pray this prayer with me: “Oh Lord God, Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that You have sent Your Son, Christ Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins, and that You have raised Him on the third day, defeating death so that I could have life eternal. I ask now that You please allow Your Son to come into my heart, and to let me follow Him always as my personal Savior. I thank You so very much for allowing Your Son to sacrifice Himself for me. In His holy and blessed name. Amen.”
And now, if you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would very much like to welcome YOU into God’s Great, Big Family! And so, the very next thing that you need to do now that you are a child of God through Christ would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s Most Blessed Word, each and every day of your life, and then, you need to go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday of your life, so that you can praise, worship, and thank the Lord God for sending His only Son to take your place as a sacrifice for you. I hope and pray that you make the most important decision of your life by giving your own heart to Christ Jesus today, for always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time to read this message today and find it very meaningful and blessed. Until the very next time, Lord willing, may the Lord God bless you ever so richly.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
