COME, FOLLOW JESUS: “Christmas Song”

Luke 1:46-55

“The LORD is like a father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him.” (Psalm 107:13, NLT)

There are many radio stations that have switched their formats to Christmas music, but only for the Christmas season; Afterwards, there is no Christmas music anymore, and the stations return to their regular formats. Yes, the Christmas music that is playing right now shall only be around for a short time, and afterward, after the holidays are very well over and that all of the decorations have been put away, then life returns to normalcy…
Music has always played an important role in life, especially at Christmas; But I believe that music is also being used for a much greater purpose: To praise joy in a Savior, a Savior who is also known as the Son of God, a Son who is sent by our Heavenly Father to do the will that He has called Him to do, and that is to take our place as punishment for our sins and die on the cross to save us.
But before Jesus could do all of this, His Father has to do one important thing, and that is to select a virgin to bear His child; God sent an angel by the name of Gabriel to a village in Galilee by the name of Nazareth, and was sent directly to a virgin by the name of Mary, who was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, who is a descendant of King David (Luke 1:26b-27) Gabriel appeared to Mary and said that the Lord is with her, but Mary was confused and disturbed and tried to think just what the angel could mean, and he announced to her: “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a Son, and you will name Him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His ancestor David. And He will reign over Israel forever; His Kingdom will never end!”
But Mary tried to ask the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” and the angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and He will be called the Son of God…” (Luke 1:28-35, NLT) And so, Mary agrees, in the hopes that everything that the angel has said to her come true.

So it was with that, that Mary began her song of praise, known as the Magnificat, as told in Luke 1:46-55(NLT): “Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! For He took notice of His lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and He has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation to all who fear Him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones. He has brought down princes from their thrones and exalted the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away with empty hands. He has helped His servant Israel and remembered to be merciful. For He made this promise to our ancestors, to Abraham and His children forever.”
That song is the song of humility because Mary was carrying the Gift in which would be put to very good use later in life when that Gift would do the work of the Father. With Mary’s song, we can know the true Christ in Christmas; The birth of Jesus Christ fulfills the promise that our Heavenly Father had kept to Abraham to be merciful to His people for always and forever. “This is what the LORD says: Because you have obeyed Me and have not withheld even your son, your only son, I swear by My own name that I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies. And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed-all because you have obeyed me.” (Genesis 22:16-18, NLT)
The birth of Jesus Christ can only mean one thing: God has brought hope to a sin-sick world, a Savior who has fulfilled the will of the Father to take our place and die on the cross for our sins, and then be raised from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that every one of us could very well have eternal life.
But what about you? Have you been caught in all of the trappings of Christmas, including all the commercialism, so much so that you have ultimately forgotten what is real and true and important? My friends, isn’t it about time that you learn about the One who is the real, true meaning of Christmas, the Light Who will shine in the darkness of your life? It is time that you know Jesus Christ, the Savior who brings you the most blessed Christmas gift of salvation, in which it has been won for you through His most precious blood in which has been shed for you, washing away completely of your sins, and be fully clean and saved. Isn’t about time you know Christ Jesus today, especially this Christmas season?

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when He held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for He was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate His righteousness, for He Himself is fair and just, and He makes sinners right in His sight when they believe in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26, NLT)
And so, at this Christmas season, are you ready to receive the most blessed gift that has ever given you in all of mankind, Jesus Christ? Then I ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Lord God, Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that you have sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for my sins, and that You have raised Him from the dead on the third day, defeating death as He went out of the tomb, so that I could have life eternal. I ask now that you please forgive me of all my sins, and please have Your Son come into my heart, and to follow Him always as my Savior. Thank You so very much for sending your Son to sacrifice Himself to save me. In His holy & blessed name, Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would like to welcome YOU into the Family of God! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your heart to Jesus Christ would be to read the Bible, God’s most blessed Word, each and every day, and then you need to go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday, so that you can praise, worship, and thank our Heavenly Father for bringing you that most blessed gift, the gift of His Son, to take your place for your sins. I very much hope and pray that you would make the most important choice of your life by giving your heart to Christ Jesus today. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time to read this blessed message today. Until the very next time, Lord willing, may God bless you ever so richly.
Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
