For those of you who are bloggers and have happened to have that certain “Google+” button thingie at the end of each blog post in which one would choose to share said posts with, then I am very much afraid that you folks might have to kiss Google+ good-bye; I have just received an email that informs me that my Google+ account, as well as I am thinking all of your own Google+ accounts, shall be going away on April 2nd of 2019, and no, this ain’t no April Fools’ joke, bub…
Here was what the email in which I had received stated: “In December 2018, we announced our decision to shut down Google+ for customers in April 2019 due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets customers’ expectations. We want to thank you for being a part of Google+…” So, if you want to know what all of this means, here it is: All Google+ accounts, including mine, as well as Google+ pages, including mine, will be shut down, and the content in which we have created with our Google+ pages shall begin the process of being deleted from our accounts. The only thing that would not be deleted, I think, are the photos and videos that are backed up in Google Photos.
Meanwhile, if any of you who have that Google+ share button thingie in your blogs, may I very well suggest that you get rid of them as soon as possible; I plan to do so myself…You can go to the settings page when you log in your WordPress blog and you’ll find something somewhere that tells you how to remove that Google+ sharing button.
Yes, I know that there are I think most of you that have gotten your emails stating that your own Google+ pages and everything else are going away after April 2nd; But take heart: At least they have given us a nice, little message: “From all of us on the Google+ team, thank you for making Google+ such a special place. We are grateful for the talented group of artists, community builders, and thought leaders who made Google+ their home. It would not have been the same without your passion and dedication.”
