THOUGHT FOR TODAY

From Psalm 5(NLT):

O LORD, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but You. Listen to my voice in the morning, LORD. Each morning I bring my requests to You and wait expectantly.

O God, You take no pleasure in wickedness; You cannot tolerate the signs of the wicked. Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for You hate all who do evil. You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers.

Because of Your unfailing love, I can enter Your house; I will worship at Your Temple, with deepest awe. Lead me in the right path, O LORD, or my enemies will conquer me. Make Your way plain for me to follow.

My enemies cannot speak a truthful word. Their deepest desire is to destroy others. Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with flattery. O God, declare them guilty. Let them be caught in their own traps. Drive them away because of their many sins, for they have rebelled against You.

But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever. Spread Your protection over them, that all who love Your name may be filled with joy. For You bless the godly, O LORD; You surround them with Your shield of love.

COME, FOLLOW JESUS: “Don’t Ever Be Misled”

Luke 21:8-19

“Let the praises of God be in their mouths…” (Psalm 149:6, NLT)(Illustration by Jenn Webster)

“I’ll believe it when I see it.” Have you ever heard of that phrase? As many times as you can count? Well, I think that we all have heard this certain phrase. For example, when we tell them that a blizzard is coming, some people would scoff at this, and say, “Well, that’s not gonna happen here, it’s just gonna rain!” But then, what if that blizzard, or even a hurricane, has already arrived, and that you find yourselves unprepared? That’s not a pretty picture to paint, isn’t it?
   So, with that, here is the scenario: Suppose our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, comes back to earth today, and then you find yourselves unprepared, as in, having not enough time to be saved? Well, my friends, that is what is surely going to happen-Jesus shall come back, and those who have not been repented and saved will surely find themselves in real, big trouble!
In the 21st chapter of Luke, verses 8-19(NLT), Jesus’ disciples asked when the time would be coming for HIS coming, and this is His answer: “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah’, and saying, ‘The time has come!’ But don’t believe them. And when you hear of wars and insurrections, don’t panic. Yes, these things must take place, but the end won’t follow immediately…Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven.”

“But before all of this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are My followers. But this will be your opportunity to tell them about Me. So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you! Even those closest to you-your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends-will betray you. They will even kill some of you. And everyone will hate you because you are My followers. But not a hair of your head will perish! By standing firm, you will win your souls.”

My dearest friends, we are now in the Lenten season, a season of reflecting and thinking about all that Christ Jesus has done for us; And this previous verse is a very good reason as to why this world needs the Lord Jesus now more than ever: You see, we are living in uncertain times right now, and people like you and me so desperately need something, or even someone, to help them get through such trying times as these. Now, we do not know the day, week, month, year, or even hour that Jesus Christ would return to earth, but when the day has finally come that our Savior has finally returned, then we who have been saved shall be ready to meet Him; For those who have ignored His Word for many years, when Jesus comes back, then it would be all too late to repent of your sins! But here is the VERY Good News: If you have been trapped in your sins for so many years, then now is the most perfect time to repent of all your past sins, and invite Jesus Christ, the Son of our Lord God, into your very own heart, all while there is still time!
You see, God sent His only Son, Christ Jesus, to earth to offer the greatest gift of all, salvation, by allowing Himself to be whipped, beaten, forced to carry, and then be nailed to, suffering, bleeding, and then dying on the cross at a place called Calvary. And then, three days later, God raised His Son from the dead, defeating death as He went out of that tomb, so that each and every one of us could very well have eternal life.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood.” (Romans 3:23-25, NLT)

And so, are you ready to have that most blessed gift of all, the gift of salvation that has been won for you by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? Then I ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins, and have been risen from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that I could have life eternal. I ask now that You please forgive me of all my sins, and to come into my heart so that I could follow You always as my Savior. I thank You so very much for paying the ultimate price to save me. In Your most holy & most blessed name. Amen.”
If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would very much like to welcome YOU into the Family of God! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your heart to Christ would be to read God’s most blessed Word, the Holy Bible, each and every day; Then, you need to go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday so that you could worship, praise, and thank the Lord God for sending His Son to take your place and to die for you. I hope that you would make this most important choice of your life by giving your heart to Jesus Christ today, so that you could follow Him always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time out to read this message this week. Until the very next time, Lord willing, may God bless you ever so richly.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

From Hosea 6:1-11(NLT):

“Come, let us return to the Lord.
He has torn us to pieces;
    now He will heal us.
He has injured us;
    now he will bandage our wounds.
  In just a short time He will restore us,
    so that we may live in His presence.
  Oh, that we might know the Lord!
    Let us press on to know Him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn
    or the coming of rains in early spring.”

  “O Israel and Judah,
    what should I do with you?” asks the Lord.
“For your love vanishes like the morning mist
    and disappears like dew in the sunlight.
  I sent my prophets to cut you to pieces—
    to slaughter you with My words,
    with judgments as inescapable as light.
  I want you to show love,
    not offer sacrifices.
I want you to know Me
    more than I want burnt offerings.
  But like Adam, you broke My covenant
    and betrayed My trust.

“Gilead is a city of sinners,
    tracked with footprints of blood.
  Priests form bands of robbers,
    waiting in ambush for their victims.
They murder travelers along the road to Shechem
    and practice every kind of sin.
   Yes, I have seen something horrible in Ephraim and Israel:
    My people are defiled by prostituting themselves with other gods!

   “O Judah, a harvest of punishment is also waiting for you,
    though I wanted to restore the fortunes of My people.”
