COME, FOLLOW JESUS: “More Than We Can Ask or Think”

Ephesians 3:14-21

“…but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever.” (Psalm 73:26, NLT)

When babies are born, sometimes they need milk and/or soft food for nourishment in order for them to grow; For a new car to do its best work, then sometimes it has to have a check-up, its oil changed, and of course get its tank filled with gas, not to mention having to get it cleaned almost every time at the car wash as well as having it waxed every once in a while…

Now, what does it mean to have spiritual growth? Well, in order for a Christian to follow our Heavenly Father’s example, they have to pray without stopping, as well as to follow His Word through the scriptures of His Book, the Holy Bible. And yes, all Christians must follow the rules of the holy book of the Bible, so that Christians would have their spiritual nature to grow and flourish.

But what about you? What have you been doing in your life? What kind of tools that you really need in order to have your lives grow to the fullest? Have you been leading your own lives without ever knowing who the Lord God really and truly is? Have you not ever known that God loves you so very much that in order to save us all, He sent His only Son to take our place on the cross and die for us all? Well, it looks like that is very well about time for your lives to have a spiritual tune-up, and there is no better place to start than the one Who gave His life so that you could have a life that’s eternal, Jesus Christ.

In the 3rd chapter of Ephesians verses 14-21(NLT), the apostle Paul prays for us of the spiritual growth that Christians have, and that you should be having as well: “When I think of this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to Him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.”

My dearest friends, if you have been going through such hardest of times in your lives, then I would very much like for you to take heart: God loves you so very much, and He shall always love you no matter what kind of situation you are going through right now, and He wants to offer this certain invitation to you right now: To save a sin-sick world in which we are living in right now, God began to use His most deepest expression of His love for each and every one of us by sending His only Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to be born from the womb of a virgin named Mary, and then to do His Father’s will of taking our place of punishment by allowing Himsef to be whipped, beaten, forced to carry, and then be nailed to, suffering, bleeding, and then dying on the cross, shedding His blood as the ultimate payment for our sins.

And the, on the third day, our Lord God did something extravagantly wonderful: He raised His Son from the dead, defeating death as He went out of that cold, dark tomb, so that all of us could very well have eternal life. My friends, Jesus Christ will surely make His home in your heart if you ask Him to forgive you of your sins because He died for you and then invite Him to come into your heart. That’s all that you have got to do-Just ask!

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood.” (Romans 3:23-25, NLT)

And so with that, would you like to have this free gift of salvation that has been won for us by the precious blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? Then I ask that you please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Heavenly Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, and that You have raised Him from the dead on the third day, defeating death so that I could have life eternal. I now ask that You please allow Your Son to come into my heart, and to let me follow Your Son always as my Savior. I thank You so very much for allowing Your Son to pay the ultimate price of His life to save me. In Your Son’s most holy and most precious name I pray. Amen.”

If you have just prayed this prayer with me, then I would very much like to welcome YOU into the Family of God! Now that you have given your heart to Jesus Christ, the very next thing that you need to do would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s blessed Word, each and every day. And when you are ready to praise, worship, and to thank our Lord God for sending His Son to pay the price for you, then I very much like for you to go to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday. I am hoping that you would make this most blessed decision of giving your very own heart to Jesus so that you could follow Him for always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read my message today while I hope that it has been a blessing to every one of you. Until the next time, may the Lord God ever so richly bless you.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord , to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening, accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, a harp, and the melody of a lyre. You thrill me, Lord , with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O Lord , what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this: Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. But you, O Lord , will be exalted forever. Your enemies, Lord , will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered. But you have made me as strong as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the finest oil. My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies; my ears have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents. But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the Lord ’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in him!”
Psalms 92:1‭-‬15 NLT

Galatians 5:13-26

“How joyful are those who fear the LORD-all who follow His ways!” (Psalm 128:1, NLT)(Zentangle(R)-inspired illustration by Jenn Webster)

We have reached the beginning of a brand-new year, and with a brand-new year, one has to make certain changes in life; After all, what is a new year without making resolutions? Of course, when a new year comes around, we try our darndest to keep those resolutions, but in the end, we just end up breaking them.
But there is one resolution that I would very much like for you to keep: Following the heart of Jesus Christ! That’s right-It just happens to be the very best resolution that you could ever keep, not just for beyond the new year, but forever! Have you been in the past year struggling with your sins, and that there is nothing that you could ever do to gain eternity? Well, my friends, there IS something you can do to gain eternity, as in eternal life, and that is by giving your very own asking the Lord God that you have sinned and that you have believed that His Son died on the cross for you, and that you ask His Son to come into your heart and to follow Him always! Not just for a day, a month, or a year, but ALWAYS! Now, that is the very best New Year’s resolution you can REALLY keep!

However, I fear that once they give their hearts to Jesus Christ, they might go on back to their sinful ways, so I would very much like to suggest that you take this following important tip, courtesy of Galatians 5:13-26, NLT: “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers in sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”

Yes, my friends: Those who have given their hearts to Jesus Christ have been called to live in freedom, that is, freedom from THEIR SINS; However, just because they have given their hearts to Jesus does not ever mean that they can be ever free to do the sins that they please! Freedom to sin is really not freedom at all-It just enslaves you to Satan, others, or even your own sinful nature! However, if you yourself have been struggling in the chains of your sins, then I invite you to give your heart to the One who will break those chains-And that certain One is Jesus Christ, who was sent by God to do His will: Take our place of punishment by dying on the cross, shedding His blood on the third day as the payment for all of your sins, and by having been raised from the dead on the third day, He has ultimately defeated death so that each and every one of us could very well have life eternal. So, my friends, I urge you to look to the cross; Then, ask Him that you have sinned, repent of your sins because Jesus died for them, and then invite Christ into your heart. There is no better time to do so than right now.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him.” (John 3:16-17, NLT)
And so, my dearest friends, are you ready to commit yourselves to Jesus Christ by repenting your sins and by giving your heart to Him right now? Then please pray this prayer with me: “Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, I admit that I am a sinner. I have ultimately sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. I believe that You have died on the cross for my sins and have been risen from the dead on the third day, so that I might have eternal life. I ask now that You please come into my heart, and to let me follow You always as my personal Savior. I thank You so very much for paying for my sins by sacrificing Yourself for me. In Your most holy and blessed name. Amen.”
If you have just prayed this prayer with me, that I would very much like to welcome you into God’s Great, Big Family! Now, the very next thing that you need to do now that you have given your heart to Christ Jesus would be to read the Holy Bible, God’s most blessed Word, each and every day of your life, and then you should praise, worship and thank the Lord God for sending His Son to die for you by going to a good, Christian church each and every Sunday of your life. I very much hope and pray that you make this most ultimate choice of your life by repenting of your sins, and by asking Jesus to enter into your life today, for always. I would like to thank you so very much for taking the time to read this message today. Until the next time, Lord willing, may God bless you ever so richly.

Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

From Psalm 73(NLT):

(Zentangle ®-inspired illustration by Jenn Webster)

Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure. But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone. For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness. They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong. They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else. They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty. These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for! They scoff and speak only evil; in their pride they seek to crush others. They boast against the very heavens, and their words strut throughout the earth. And so the people are dismayed and confused, drinking in all their words. “What does God know?” they ask. “Does the Most High even know what’s happening?” Look at these wicked people— enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply. Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason? I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain. If I had really spoken this way to others, I would have been a traitor to Your people. So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper. But what a difficult task it is! Then I went into Your sanctuary, O God, and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked. Truly, You put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. In an instant they are destroyed, completely swept away by terrors. When You arise, O Lord, you will laugh at their silly ideas as a person laughs at dreams in the morning. Then I realized that my heart was bitter, and I was all torn up inside. I was so foolish and ignorant— I must have seemed like a senseless animal to You. Yet I still belong to You; You hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Those who desert him will perish, for You destroy those who abandon You. But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do.
