800,000 federal employees have been looking forward to having the most wonderful Christmas of their lives…But then, on December 21st, 2018, something happened-The government has been shut down. And as of this writing, the government is still closed. And all because of this one thing: All our President ever want is, I think, 5 billion just for a border wall.
And really, does all the President ever care about is having a wall, all while furloughed workers are struggling to figure out how they are ever going to figure out how to pay their bills and feed their children and struggling to keep a roof over their heads? Does the President really care all that much about wanting money to build a wall while those who are working without pay are facing the crisis of their lives, with struggles such as paying the mortgage, and buying food? And seriously, is a wall that much important than the 800,000 federal employees who worry every day of their lives of wondering if they would ever see a paycheck ever, ever again?
In the days after the closing of the government, the one thing that has become most important to me is that I am now thinking of the 800,000 workers who are going to end up in very big danger if this government shutdown could continue for as long as the President said that it could.
Now, as of this writing, so far at least nine federal agencies have been closed, and there are 800,000 employees are either furloughed or working without pay. In my opinion, our President has absolutely no love in his heart for those 800,000 employees who are now facing a daunting task of whether to pay the bills, pay the mortgage, pay for gas in their cars, for heat in their homes, or even feed their very own children…And with the President having no sympathy or even love in his heart, then it shall be the children who shall suffer the very most.
Here is what I think would certainly be the worst-case nightmare scenario: If this partial government shutdown goes on for weeks, months, or even years, then those 800,000 federal employees who are either furloughed or working without pay shall fail to pay their mortgage, thereby losing their homes; Some may even have no other alternative but to live in hotel rooms, or even live in cars, because they would be homeless. There are others, who do have homes but pay the rent, that will have to find some other way feed themselves and their children because there would not ever be any food stamps if the shutdown goes on longer than expected, but worse yet, they may even have to sell some or all of their possessions that they have treasured so very much because they do not have any checks coming in, and they won’t have any money to pay to feed their families.
Even worse yet, they won’t even have the money to pay for their medical bills, which means that those people, and especially children, shall fall very ill, and without the money for the proper medical care as well as medicine, people with health problems shall surely die.
When the President decides that he could keep the shutdown going for months or even years, then he has absolutely no idea that those federal employees are going to be poor; He does not know which of these workers are going to end up homeless, which of their children are going to starve to death, and which of those federal workers are going to end up living in a car or a hotel room. You see, when a President acts like a child and struts around like he owns the place, it is the people who suffer the very most, even the children. Sin causes suffering, and it is his own sins of greed, selfishness, and arrogance that has caused misery on those 800,000 federal employees, especially those with their children.
It very well seems like the President is going to have to think long and hard about that one…
