As you are reading this, we are into, I think, the 4th week of this government shutdown; As I have addressed in my previous post (see A SHUTDOWN FEAR…), the shutdown of our nation’s government was the fact that all our president ever cares about is building a wall…
Well, I would very much like to say good luck to him, but then I began to think about those 800,000 people who are either furloughed or working without pay. What I would really like to say very much is this: The longer the shutdown lasts, the more consequences it is going to cause for those 800,000 government workers who are as you are reading this right now are wondering when or if they are ever going to have their next paycheck to cover very important things such as medical bills, family doctor visits, food, and a roof over their heads.
I am telling you this right here and now: This shutdown cannot ever last forever. If it lasts as long as our President threatens that it would, then the after effects are going to be as catastrophic as anything in America, perhaps since the September 11th, 2001 attacks: Families will end up homeless, and once they end up homeless, they would either live in a car or hotel room…Those who rely on food stamps will suddenly go hungry once they run out, and once they do go hungry, then they shall be very sick, maybe even ending up dying. The food that’s supposed to be checked would end up being unchecked, and then the people shall never even know whether the food is safe or not.
Science experiments would go unconducted, farms will go to rot…And even so much worse, this whole entire country would go straight into a dystopian nightmare, all because of a President’s only goal in which he cares about a whole lot more than the livelihoods of each and every American: Building a wall.
Our President must wake up and know this: There are 800,000 lives at risk because of his greed and selfishness. Mr. President, if you are reading this, I beg of you: Do not put the livelihoods of 800,000 innocent government workers to risk because of your greed and selfishness. If you had any, any, ANY love in your heart, then please, please do the most sensible thing that you can do and please put those people first and think of them before you ever think of yourself. Reopen the government. Now. Before time runs out. Thank you.
